Central Pollution Control Board

CPCB Registration is an official authorization granted by the apex environmental authority of India. It certifies that a business—whether a manufacturer, importer, or waste processor—complies with national environmental standards regarding waste management, pollution control, and the "Polluter Pays" principle.

It is mandatory for businesses that handle products or processes that impact the environment, specifically:

  • PIBOs (Producers, Importers, Brand Owners): Operating in more than two states (if in 1–2 states, you apply to the State Board/SPCB).

  • Waste Processors: Entities involved in recycling, incinerating, or co-processing plastic, e-waste, batteries, or tires.

  • Hazardous Waste Handlers: Industries generating, collecting, or utilizing hazardous waste as a resource.

  • Large Industries: Those falling under the "Red" or "Orange" categories of pollution potential.

Required Documents

  • Corporate Identity: GST Certificate, Company PAN Card, and Certificate of Incorporation (CIN).

  • Authorized Person: Aadhaar and PAN of the authorized signatory, plus a Board Resolution or Authorization Letter.

  • Consent Documents: Valid Consent to Operate (CTO) and Consent to Establish (CTE) from the State Pollution Control Board.

  • Process Details: Flow charts of manufacturing/recycling, list of machinery, and pollution control equipment installed.

  • Import Proof: Import-Export Code (IEC) if the business involves importing regulated materials.

  • MSME Certificate: Required if the applicant is claiming benefits as a Micro, Small, or Medium Enterprise.
