GST (Goods and Services Tax Registration)
GST registration is the process by which a business obtains a unique 15-digit GST Identification Number (GSTIN) from the tax authorities. It is a mandatory tax registration in India that replaces multiple indirect taxes (like VAT, Service Tax, and Excise) with a single, unified tax system, allowing businesses to legally collect tax from customers and claim credits on their own purchases.
GST registration is mandatory for businesses and individuals falling under the following categories:
Turnover Threshold:
Goods: Annual aggregate turnover exceeds ₹40 Lakh (₹20 Lakh for Special Category/Hilly States).
Services: Annual aggregate turnover exceeds ₹20 Lakh (₹10 Lakh for Special Category States).
Inter-State Trade: Mandatory if you sell goods across state borders, even if your turnover is below the threshold.
E-commerce Sellers: Required for anyone selling products through online platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, or Myntra, regardless of turnover.
Casual Taxable Persons: For individuals who occasionally supply goods or services in a state where they have no fixed place of business (e.g., at an exhibition).
Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM): For businesses liable to pay tax on behalf of their unregistered suppliers.
Voluntary Registration: Often chosen by small businesses to claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) and enhance their B2B credibility.

PAN Card: Of the business entity or the proprietor.
Aadhaar Card: Of the proprietor, partners, or directors for e-KYC.
Proof of Constitution: Partnership Deed, Incorporation Certificate (COI), or MOA/AOA.
